FruVeg-Fresh edible coating is a product developed using natural raw materials for use on fruits and vegetables in order to extend their shelf life after harvest. It can be used to treat tomato, orange, banana, pine apple, mango, guava, water melon, cassava, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrot, paw paw etc. It is completely safe for use on fruits and vegetables and is meant to be used on those that are intended to be stored or transported over long distances.

Typical example
Two full ripe tomatoes are selected, washed and after drying one is coated with FruVeg-Fresh edible coating and the other is left uncoated (control). The physical appearance, texture, hardness of uncoated (control) tomato degenerated faster compared to the one coated with the FruVeg-Fresh as illustrated in the picture.
This indicate the effectiveness of FruVeg-Fresh in delaying the decaying process of the 100% ripe tomato coated with it. The shelf life of the coated tomato extend well beyond 15 days thereby making FruVeg-Fresh edible coating to be the cheapest way of preserving tomatoes if compared to the other methods. The positive effect of using it on green tomatoes or half ripe tomatoes is even more pronounced.
Method of application
FruVeg-Fresh can be applied on fruits and vegetables by any of the following methods:
1. Dipping: The products are washed and dried then dipped in the FruVeg-Fresh aqueous solution for 1-2 seconds then dried with a stream of air (fan) if available, otherwise can be allowed to dry before storing or packaging.
2. Flat bed spraying and drying
3. Spraying at the farm right before harvesting after maturing.
Dosage
Approx. 1 liter of FruVeg-Fresh aqueous solution can be used to treat 1 ton of tomato using the dipping method
